WHERE CAN I BUY INGREDIENTS FOR THESE RECIPES?
From your grocery store or your local health-food store. Try one of the links above for specialty items.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN MAKING COSMETICS?
For more than five decades, since I was a teenager and my big sister showed me how.

ARE THESE RECIPES TESTED ON ANIMALS?
Yes (but only two-legged ones). Tested on myself, my children and grandchildren, my friends and my students.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO PUT ON ONE'S FACE?
Water! Skin craves it. Always mist before you moisturise.

SHOULD I USE SOAP ON MY FACE?
Most definitely. A firm scrub with gentle soap and a natural cloth, brush or loofah, is the most effective way to clean your skin. However, you must complete the process by pH balancing your skin with witch hazel, misting with water, and applying a natural moisturiser. This works for men as well as women.

HOW DO I TEST TO SEE IF I AM ALLERGIC TO A PRODUCT OR AN INGREDIENT?
Rub a small amount onto the skin inside of your elbow and cover wih a bandaid. Leave overnight. No reaction (redness or itching) means no allergy.

IS 'SQUEAKY-CLEAN' HAIR HEALTHY AND DESIRABLE?
Detergent-based shampoos do leave your hair clean. They also strip it of natural oils, upset the acid balance and irritate your skin. Make a shampoo containing castor oil, an ingredient that actually strengthens the hair. Think of that 'squeak' as the sound of your hair screaming for help.

IS HAIR-DRESSING A HAZARDOUS PROFESSION?
Yes. Because hair-dressers are exposed to a witch's brew of chemical products and fumes, there is a high incidence of cancer in this group. For your own safety, try to find a hair-dresser who uses natural products.

DOES SOAP KILL GERMS?
No. It simply loosens their grip on your skin, grabs them and slides them down the drain where they belong.
